Rescue & Shelter
We rescue wild animals that are victims of trafficking and mistreatment. Those able to return to the wild undergo a careful rehabilitation process, conducted in partnership with specialized institutions, before being gradually reintroduced into their natural habitat. Animals that cannot be released find a safe haven at our Rescue Center, where they receive continuous care and live with dignity and well-being.
Education & Awareness
The “De Olho na Natureza” (Eye on Nature) project by Instituto Líbio brings environmental education to schools and protected areas, raising awareness about biodiversity conservation. Aimed at students and teachers, the initiative offers hands-on learning experiences that combine scientific knowledge with direct contact with nature. The project strengthens critical thinking among new generations and expands understanding of the impacts of wildlife trafficking in Brazil.
Sanctuaries & Protected Areas
Instituto Líbio protects around 40,000 hectares of native vegetation across four Brazilian biomes, essential for ecological balance. This preserved territory ensures vital ecosystem services such as climate regulation, water cycle maintenance, and biodiversity conservation. In addition to storing millions of tons of carbon, these protected areas serve as refuges for more than 1,000 species of native wildlife.
We are committed to protecting the well-being and freedom of wild animals in vulnerable situations.
Instituto Líbio rescues and rehabilitates wildlife victims of trafficking and abuse, while managing private nature reserves in Mato Grosso do Sul, São Paulo, and Pará, to promote the conservation of Brazil’s fauna and its natural habitats.
Each of our projects carries the purpose of creating lasting environmental and cultural impact, ensuring that Brazilian wildlife can live free in nature, healthy, unharmed, and beyond human threat.
